Prayer: Dear Lord, give us strength and peace in the New Year ahead. Amen
Reading: Psalm 29 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: The Psalmist spends most of Psalm 29 describing the mightiness of the Lord and calling for us to glorify and worship him. In the last verse, however, we hear, May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace! (v. 11) This year, I hope to keep my mind set on how mighty God is and my heart set on worshiping Him. My prayer is for strength and peace. That sounds short and simple! I know the year will get overwhelming and complicated but with strength and peace, we can make it through. --Ruth Gates
