Prayer: Help us to obey you and not human authority, God. Amen.
Reading: Acts 5: 27-32 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: In this passage, we are told to obey God rather than human authority. Peter and the apostles got drug off to court because they were doing God’s work. They also shared the gospel message of Jesus being raised from the dead and reminded the court that they were witnesses. Do we do that? Do we share our faith with others regularly? Do we witness to Christ’s death and resurrection? If you said, “No,” why not? May we have the faith to do so and may we obey God’s authority. --Chad Hershberger
