Prayer: Let your light shine. Amen.
Reading: Revelation 21: 10, 22 - 22:5 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: Our text today speaks of a city that has no need of sun or moon to shine on it for the glory of God is its light. How would that change things? My first thought is that in God's light there would be no shadows. The sun and moon shine from a place in the sky so objects cast shadows - longer or shorter by the time of day; brighter or darker by phase of the moon each month; more or less direct by the season of the year. God's light shines from within and from everywhere. There would be no shadows. No dark places. In God's light we can serve him without fear of shadows or darkness. That is quite empowering and very encouraging. --Ruth Gates
