Prayer: May I never be afraid, Lord, for I know you will give me the kingdom. Amen.
Reading: Luke 12:32-40 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: I remember as a youngster singing the hymn, “Have No Fear Little Flock.” I remember distinctly the line, “it’s your Father’s good fortune to give you the kingdom.” The words help calm a fearful soul. The next line of this passage tells us to sell our possessions and give alms. This summer at camp, we talked about the early Christians and how they sold all they had and gave money to the poor. We talked about how we, today, need to be generous as well. It might be tough to give up what you have. But, in our generosity, we can help transform our communities! And remember- God will provide. Have no fear, little flock! --Chad Hershberger
