QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: About a month ago I gathered with my colleagues in the Juniata Valley Conference to study the Advent and Christmas texts. Preparing to write this devotion, I looked at my notes for Psalm 80 and found these words circled: “Stir up your might, and come to save us!” The prayer of the day for the Fourth Sunday of Advent reflects Psalm 80. Let this be our prayer today, this Sunday and each day of the week leading up to the Nativity of Our Lord. Stir up your power, Lord Christ, and come. With your abundant grace and might, free us from the sin that hinders our faith, that eagerly we may receive your promises. Amen. --Jim Bricker
