QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: Words, words, words. They spread like wildfire, especially in these times of news 24/7 and social media overload. Just think of all the information you received in the past year. Mind-boggling. Was it all true? Some yes; a lot not. Was it all right? Same answer. Was it all pure. Same again. Too many words; not enough worthwhile. What words are true, right and pure? The Word of the Lord. He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. Psalm 147: 15. May that be our hope and prayer in the year ahead and may our words be, Praise the Lord! --Ruth Gates
