Prayer: We love you, God. Help us to love others. Amen
Reading: Exodus 20: 1-17 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: At first glance you would think this passage is a “piece of cake.” Well…it isn’t. Or you might say, it’s all a matter of common sense. But it’s not. So much is going on in our lives and our world that counteracts everything we are taught in these verses. So what do we do? Or say? Well, we must pray…fervently…that God will continue to guide us and strengthen us and that the power of His love will become more evident. As faithful children of God we must continue to uphold His laws which, simply stated, tell us to love God and love others. --Alice Yeakel
