Prayer: Help us to do your will, O Lord, and put things off. Amen.
Reading: Romans 7:13-25 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: When I read these verses, I thought immediately of myself. There are so many things that I think to myself, “Oh, I’ll get that started tomorrow.” Or maybe my inner voice says, “I’ll eat healthier tomorrow.” Often, I know that I should do something now or make a change in my life for the better. But, I wait. My spirit may be willing, but my flesh is weak. I don’t want that donut to go to waste! This verse reminded me that I should rely on God to help me to put away my ways of the flesh. Think more with a spiritual mind. Know my body is God’s temple. Don’t put it off! --Chad Hershberger
