Reflection: I found it very interesting in this passage that St. Paul said, “And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds.” When you think of love and good deeds, the word, “provoke” does not come to mind. I always connote provoking someone as being a bad thing. But in this case, Paul uses it to remind us to do something good.
What other good things can we provoke in others? Loving and good deeds are a good start. But maybe we could come up with some more. Can we provoke smiles and laughter? I think I do that when I tickle my children. Let’s work to provoke good things this day and every day! --Chad Hershberger, Camp Mount Luther Director
