QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text?
Reflection: Psalm 80 confuses me. The people are asking God, "How long will you be angry with us?" My question is WHY is He angry with them and with us? Only we can answer that by searching our hearts and lives perhaps for our flaws.
And then three times in verses 3, 7 and 19 the people ask God to "cause His face to shine upone us". Now isn't that a significant theme of the Advent Season? We look to the Star of Bethlehem and rejoice in its message of hope and love and peace.
Perhaps the light of that heavenly star will reveal to us not only our flaws but also our strengths.
