Prayer: Help us, Lord. We are left to make so many decisions of our own. Help and guide us in our choices. May we know what is best through you. Amen

QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text?
QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story?
QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me?
QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text?
Reflection: These verses in Hebrews are confusing. (See question 1 above.) Especially verses 6-8 in chapter 2. We are told God has "left nothing outside (our) control." Yet, in my mind, we are not, should not and cannot be in total control. This is a mighty challenge, a heavy weight. Who's in charge here? Not so sure it should be me.
Has God (or have we?) allowed ourselves too much control in ways that harm our destiny? I shudder at the thought: Suppose I make a mistake? What if my decision or choice is not for the best? I guess the best we can do is pray for God's guidance and help. Who's in charge? I am and I ask God to help me.
