Prayer: May we be like the wise old owl - speaking less; listening more. Your word brings wisdom. Amen
Reading: Proverbs 1: 20-33 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: Wisdom cries out: “Why do you ignore me?" The first poem I learned, in first grade, was: A wise old owl sat in an oak. The more he heard, the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why can’t we be like that old bird? Wisdom-knowledge-awareness-is all around us. Every person we meet and every experience we have - all offer opportunity to gain wisdom. Let us open our ears and our hearts to the wisdom God offers! -- Alice Yeakel
