Prayer: God who calls, be with us as we step out and face new challenges here or wherever there is need. Amen
Reading: Mark 1: 14-20 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: To leave your home and follow Jesus as the disciples did is not an easy choice. Still, we are all called to be messengers or missionaries of Jesus’s teachings in one way or another. Humbly, we cast our nets upon the community and reach out to bring people closer to God’s love and healing. In the past year we have been especially challenged to help friends, neighbors, and strangers, too. This is what God expects of us. We may remain on the “shores’’ of our home extending love and caring concern to and for others. Or we can boldly step beyond and face new challenges. God will be with us all the way. --Alice Yeakel
