Prayer: Help us to hear your voice, Lord. Help us to know your pleasure in each of us. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 29 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: This passage has some powerful imagery for the power of God’s voice. Say it and it is done. What power. But this week, as we get set to hear once again the story of Jesus’ baptism, we are reminded of the voice that comes from heaven that says, “This is my son, my beloved, in whom I am well pleased.” God’s voice is powerful. But, it can also be reassuring. Listen for the ways that you hear God keeping you on the right path. Listen for when you hear, “in you I am well pleased.” --Chad Hershberger
