With the events of this week in Las Vegas and the recent hurricanes, I liked this devotional that I wrote years ago. Today, read a Bible verse about the future and think about how precious our lives truly are!
When I was in college, one my favorite movies was "The Crow" starring Brandon Lee. Brandon is the son of legendary martial artist Bruce Lee. Brandon was killed in an accident during the shooting of "The Crow." I owned a VHS copy of the movie and at the end of the video is an interview with Brandon. I always liked the words that he quotes. I share those words with you here: "...because we don't know (when we will die), we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain amount of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it seems limitless." --Paul Bowles (from The Sheltering Sky)
