Prayer: Shepherding God, you are the guardian of our souls. Heal our hearts. Keep us safe in your care. Amen
Reading: I Peter 2: 19-25 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: The last verse of our text today speaks of sheep (us) straying and the shepherd (Jesus) being guardian of our souls. However, no one is straying very far these days and the best guard we have right now are face masks. Physically speaking, that is. Stay safe. Be well. But of course I Peter 2: 25 is speaking spiritually. We go astray in our hearts and minds. Sin creeps in and causes harm. Stay close to the shepherd. Be guarded in your soul. --Ruth Gates
