Reflection: In this week of Christmas festivities and celebrations, this passage is a good reminder for us to not just stare at the manger and be in wonder of the newborn king. While we celebrate Christ’s birth, it’s also important to look toward the cross and the redeeming work that Jesus came to do. It’s easy to get caught up in the celebrations of the happiness of the birth and not focus on the ultimate sacrifice that will take place at the end of Jesus’ lifetime. May we not forget the work that will be done on the cross and glorious resurrection to follow. –Chad Hershberger
