Prayer: Lord, may we keep calm when life is difficult. Amen.
Reading: John 2: 13-22 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: This incident happens during Holy Week. Some who read this might wonder why Jesus lost his cool. Consider what was happening. It was the beginning of the end and Jesus knew it. Do you ever lose your cool when you are stressed out? Do you lash out at someone who really does not deserve your wrath? I admit- it has happened to me. We can only take so much. Reading this story reminds me that Jesus truly knows what being human is like and can relate to what we are going through. --Chad Hershberger
