Prayer: Dear God, may we be one in you as Jesus prayed for us and for all who believe the message of your love. Amen
Reading: John 17: 20-26 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: In our text for today, Jesus prays for all who will believe in him through the disciples' message. So, if Jesus prayed for all who believed because of their message, then the prayer continues for those who believe the message of those who believed the message of the disciples who believed the message of Jesus. That means, somewhere way down the line, Jesus prayed for us and for those with whom we share the message of God's love. That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. (v. 21) Perhaps that is how I can write GROW Time devotions. I know Jesus has prayed for me and for those who read them. How can you share the message of God's love? Go ahead and do it knowing Jesus has already prayed for you and for those who will hear the message.
