Prayer: Holy Father, help us see your creation and take care of it. Holy Jesus, may we live in the good of the work you have done for us on the cross. Holy Spirit, come and send us in mission as we say, “Here I Am.” Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 6: 1-8 (Click to read text) Stop and GROW: After reading the text, discuss/ponder the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith questions, which are part of Camp Mount Luther's GROW Time with campers. QUESTION 1: What scares, confuses, challenges, or doesn’t make sense to me in this text? QUESTION 2: What delights me in this text or is my favorite part of the story? QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: This Sunday is Holy Trinity Sunday. It is the only church year celebration based on a doctrine- the idea that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We commemorate this belief that God is three in one. It’s my understanding that this particular scripture is read on this day because scholars believe Isaiah was referring to the trinity when he wrote, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.” When I read this passage to write this devotional writing, it occurred to me that the end of this passage is all about mission. “Send me!” is our cry when God asks us to do something. On this Trinity Sunday, think about how you serve the triune God. We are servants of our creator, redeemer, and sustainer. How will tell others of that mission and show that mission in this world? --Chad Hershberger
