QUESTION 3: What stories or memories does this text stir in me? QUESTION 4: What is God up to in this text? Reflection: “Wachet Auf!”, also known as Sleepers, Awake!, was composed by J. S. Bach 300 years ago. “Are Ye Able?” is an old gospel hymn circa 1926. “People, Get Ready” was written in 1965. In words all through time, we are reminded to be ready. Prepare your candles. Whatever tools you have, put them to use. Keep your saw sharpened, woodcutter. Fill your silo with grain for the winter, farmer. Don’t fall asleep on the job anyone. Are you ready? --Alice Yeakel
